Another Birthday for NIGERIA

What’s really good people?

I have to take the time out to give a SUPA SHOUT-OUT to all of my Kool Keedz out there. This week alone I got the opportunity to reflect and saw just how fortunate I am now as a father and uncle to so many FANTASTIC little people. Brains, Beauty, Athleticism, Creativity, Appreciative and Respect, are qualities all these kids have on lock and they all really get it. What a privilege and honor to be in the company of you all. This is only possible in part due to prayer and their hardworking parents so a MASSIVE Job Well Done to you all too. What else is on the brain this week? Oh, how can I forget (PAUSE) BROOOOOOOOOOOOODY! HOMELAND returns this week baby. The best programming on television by far and one thing is for certain it ain’t going to end like crazy a** DEXTER series finale. WTF was that anyways?

Ok people; let me get focused…

Speaking of HOMELAND, Nigeria will be celebrating another Independence Day in a matter of days early next week. This is what now officially 53 for Nigeria? There are so many ways I can go with this week’s post so lets try something I am often accused of not having – “STRENGTH’S” based approach. What is funny is how I often get labeled as being too negative on topics I choose to share my opinion on that makes others uncomfortable. Here is an aside; you don’t thrive and demonstrate repeated success in human service as a leader for over 15 years being deficit based. In life I have come to understand that some people would rather settle for comfort rather than have TRUTH. Hey I understand, I got bills and mortgages to worry about too so the “P Man” is not one to advise anybody to “f**k with the money” especially when there are mouths to feed.

Back to the topic at hand NIGERIA or as I often like to call it NAIJA, man I love my father/motherland no be small o. There are several things to celebrate as we approach this Independence Day. Who is the African Champions in football? The Bird Gang aka…SUPA EAGLES. Who makes and produces the biggest records and music on the continent of Africa? Nigerian artist like Psqaure, 9ice, D’Banj, Timaya, Terry G, Davido, Wizkzid, Iyanya, KCEE, the list just goes on. What is the third biggest film industry in the world after Hollywood and Bollywood? NOLLYWOOD of Nigeria. Who often likes to boast itself as the BIGGEST & BLACKEST nation on planet earth? NAIJA, NAIJA, NAIJA noni.

TRUTH TIME; all the aforementioned feats highlighted above are great and fantastic if we want our reputation and custom amongst other leading countries to be simply based on how well we can BANANA kick soccer balls, LIMPOPO & KUKERE on the dance floor and totally make a BUFFOON of one another on the big screen. My birthday wish for Nigeria this Independence Day is to work on helping to restore some of its lost lure of BRAINS, BEAUTY, ATHLETICISM, CREATIVITY, and RESPECT. These were all the same qualities that drew the attention of so many other nations and people to Nigeria during its birth and rise in Africa. Hmmmmmmm; it seems my only hope at the moment is to wait on my current crop of Kool Keedz to grow up and hope they welcome the challenge and in helping to build an improved Nigeria. Kool Keedz parents looks like you got you work cut out for you o.

TOGETHER!

Group Accountability SUCKS

What’s really good people?

My peoples how far? Off the top I must say it is truly a privilege and honor to have people email, text and call just to say “P Man” why no blog this week now? What a fantastic compliment and position to be in that opinions right or wrong put before the world to dissect, ponder and grab like a sponge does add value to the lives of others. That is why it often pains me when I do not uphold the standard that I set for myself every week to compose something original to give you the viewers. Man must do better next time noni.

Ok people; let me get focused…

By now unless you were in some type of wilderness or hiding under a rock somewhere this week everybody knows what went down here in the DMV after some YAHOOOOOO decided he wanted to play “dirty harry” and opened gun fire on 12 or so innocent lives at the Naval Yard headquarters. I mean if my old man “IDIMU Keshi is calling me late hours Nigerian time to check on my welfare from a CNN report then you know it is serious. Wait a minute didn’t we just go over the importance of lending an ear and support to your fellow brothers/sisters who may be having major life stressors and difficulty coping a few weeks back? This thing called LIFE no be for small boys at all at all. For the sake of full disclosure I am often by the Naval Yard and the idea of somebody I don’t know holding a job in which he/she is tooting around an AK47 like it’s a breadstick never sat quite right with me from the jump. O well that is another story and issue within itself.

Now so here is what I don’t like about the aftermath of this selfish act by this loose cannon of a person. You can chalk up one more thing in our lives now that will never be the same again. As if 9/11 did not already take away the most simplest and basic civil liberties we grew up on and wish we all could just turn back the clock and have back all this numb nuts did is make it difficult for hard working people to secure government clearances and dare attempt to bid on a government contract.

Hearing from friends and colleagues of mine who work next to the Naval Yard that they were restricted from leaving their office space and their building was on lockdown some type of code for hide for cover until after hours before they could go home to their loved ones is not cool. I had to laugh when my homeboy got on the phone to tell me he spent his birthday hiding under a desk for like 12hours at work on Tuesday all because nobody knew what was going on outside and he sure was not going out there to volunteer himself as a victim.

All these behaviors by the MAD people of the world are too similar to growing up with siblings or playing on sporting teams in which your parents or coaches often stressed group accountability. Now who till this day does not hate the whole if I gotta suffer we all gotta suffer peanut butter & jelly bulls**t we see in our everyday lives be it work, school, etc. Group accountability is the easy way out for those who do not want to make difficult decisions or are too lazy to think objectively in an environment where there is no accountability present.

No Way OUT

What’s really good people?

I missed my peoples last week on the blogspot. Hope the end of your summer and Labor Day weekend was a massive party. If you did not get the memo by now things have changed for “P Love” these past few months. Gone are the all-white summer blowouts, trips to summer destinations and off course my favorite the Labor Day weekend jump-offs in Vegas and South Beach. My camp is busy at it again getting ready to launch our next project so stay tuned for the next BIG THING coming out fall 2013. We need your support to make this a MASSIVE success. Going forward I want to wish my father aka…“IDIMU Keshi” Happy B-Day once again and our boys the SUPA EAGLES of Nigeria the best of luck this weekend in the world-cup qualifying match against Malawi. Baba God give us more Goals I beg o. UP NIGERIA & UP NAIJA! BTW, fantasy football season is officially underway so it is time I put a beat-down on the competition starting this week. First opponent going on the SUMMA JAM screen is my brother MAG Nation. Let’s GO!

Ok people; let me get focused…

Do you ever find yourself at times in a rut? Things just ain’t going as planned? Bills just continue to mount and pile up? Work or family pressures just never seem to end? Baby mama/Baby daddy problems become a part of everyday life? Unless your name is G.O.D. you better have answered yes to at least one of these questions. My next question then is who do you turn to in these moments of crisis, loneliness and fear? Your fake a** one thousand friends or followers on your Facebook or Twitter accounts? That one friend who you know will always tell you what you want to hear or do you choose to keep yourself locked up in a room filled with darkness in hopes of not seeing the day of light?

The message and point that I need to get across to the viewers this week is my blogspot recognizes that real life issues and concerns are no joking matter. It is our responsibility on this blogspot to try to heal and support anyone of our brothers and sisters who can benefit from a hug, tap on the shoulder, butt-kicking or a in your face confrontation to wake us up from the dumps. I serve as a trained professional that works to help people address mental health issues, depression and suicidal ideations in one of my many talents with youth and families. Why not serve as a support and resource for those in your circle of family, friends and colleagues.

TRUTH is sometimes there is NO WAY OUT unless you fight through it and work your way out of that corner and if you get knock down then you just have to get off the mat playboy. One thing that I do not like is a whinning a** dude or people that seem like they just complain just for complaining sake. The “P Man” has a saying “when there is NO Complaining…There is NO Explaining”. TRUTH is confiding in someone you trust, respect and love is not a sign of weakness or complaining at all and I am the first to acknowledge this fact.

This is the sole reason why I love kids (especially all my Kool Keedz). It is their pure innocent qualities that can lift any dying spirit in us and want to make us push forward. Why is it that it is those ages (0-12) that truly know how to keep things simple but those ages 18 & older that make things so complicated and taxing. My advise is start acting like a six week old more by crying, whinning and fussing whenever you are not getting the necessary attention you rightly deserve.
It’s always love

Na Wa O (NWO)!

Na Wa O! - is slang or a pidgin term used back home in Nigeria and other parts of Africa that simply illustrates something unbelievable, makes you speechless or leaves you flabbergasted.
